This place is just super unique and SUPER clean! Always friendly staff in the 24 hour guest shop...and they serve Great breakfast. This place we have never had issues with and we love staying here. When I say it is clean, I mean CLEAN. :) Awesome outside firepit, beautiful rooms, beautiful pool..I have nothing bad to say about our stays here. We love it.
The Indian Lodge is currently under renovation (from fall 2017 - June 2018), but the Black Bear restaurant is still open. They only serve breakfast (which is excellent diner food), and a reduced lunch buffet. The food was delicious after a long hike, and the desserts available were top notch. This place is awesome and I look forward to my next visit.
This is a great old building, built in the 1930's. Adobe structure with lots of wood and stones. Not all of the lodge is original and I have never stayed in the newer part, but from the outside it looks much like the original lodge. The furniture is big and rustic and the beds are comfortable. The views are good too. The restaurant is not as impressive but it is convenient.
Staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Lodge is historic and that is preserved well. Some things such as the A.C. is a bit outdated. However, beginning early Sept of 2017 they will be upgrading and renovating to improve this. On site restaurant has very good food for a reasonable price; but only breakfast and lunch.
Unwind & breathe deep! It is hard to believe a place this beautiful can be found in the desert of West Texas. You feel like home from the warm greetings when you arrive to the care you receive during your visit. Plus there is so much to do in the state park! My family came for local sights, but spent most of our time just steps from our front door. Amazing hikes, swimming, nature viewing, and fun programs kept us close to home. We were looking for relaxed family time and we found it here!
